Mastercard Dynamic Yield is looking for a Director, Software Architecture to lead the technical direction and architectural strategy within our engineering organization.
This role combines organization-level architecture leadership, people management, and engineering stewardship.
You will be responsible for managing and mentoring Software Architects, setting architectural direction across teams, and owning the product architecture vision and multi-year roadmaps aligned to business strategy.

As a Director, Software Architecture, you operate at the intersection of technology, product, and business, making explicit, pragmatic trade-offs between architectural purity and business value.
You ensure our platforms are scalable, resilient, and evolvable in production, while enabling product and engineering teams to move fast with clarity and confidence.

This is a senior leadership role focused on architectural direction, influence, and people leadership, rather than hands-on software delivery ownership.

Role – Key Responsibilities

· Own and evolve the product architecture vision and multi-year roadmap, balancing long-term sustainability with near-term business priorities

· Lead and govern architectural decision-making, driving pragmatic trade-offs across scalability, cost, time-to-market, risk, and customer impact

· Ensure architectural consistency, technical standards, and design quality across teams, services, and platforms

· Act as a people manager for Software Architects, including hiring, mentoring, coaching, and performance development

· Grow architects into strong system-level thinkers and influential technical leaders across the organization

· Partner with Product, Engineering, and Business leadership to translate strategy into cohesive platform and architecture investments

· Serve as the senior escalation point for complex, cross-cutting architectural and systemic challenges

· Guide the evolution of AWS-first, cloud-native architectures, including microservices, APIs, event-driven, and asynchronous systems

· Champion production-grade architecture practices across reliability, security, operability, and cost awareness

· Drive alignment and leverage across teams by reducing duplication and enabling shared architectural patterns and platforms

All About You

· 12+ years of professional software engineering experience, with significant time in technical leadership roles

· Proven experience leading architecture across multiple teams or platform domains

· Deep background in software architecture and distributed system design

· Hands-on experience with AWS and cloud-native architectures (required)

· Demonstrated experience managing and mentoring senior and principal-level architects

· Strong judgment in making architectural trade-offs in complex, real-world environments

· Ability to communicate architectural direction and rationale clearly to executives and non-technical stakeholders

· Track record of aligning architectural decisions with measurable business outcomes

· Organization-wide architecture influence beyond immediate reporting lines

· Experience working in high-scale, production SaaS environments
