Vice President Global Sales

The airline industry is rapidly changing, and SAS is working hard to transform itself for its customers future needs.
SAS is now looking for a highly motivated and analytical leader to head their Global Sales department.
The Vice President Global Sales will be an integrated member of the Commercial Leadership Team, reporting directly to the Chief Commercial Officer.


SAS is searching to employ a proven commercial and sales leader with extended experience from the Scandinavian and international travel industry.
The ideal candidate should have a passion for, and a track record of, building strong internal and external relationships.


The Vice President Global Sales will be directly responsible for delivering SAS’s global indirect revenue by leading and inspiring an international sales team.
S/he will need to build positive and efficient relationships with global travel agencies, tour operators, business travel partner and corporate customers.
Furthermore, s/he will work in partnership with our joint venture airlines.


The complexity of this role lies in designing and continuously developing a competitive value proposition to customers through smart and innovative distribution and ultimately to ensure the development of a global sales organization of approximately 70 FTE.
In this leadership position, the VP Global Sales will have full P&L responsibility.
This position is located in Stockholm (SAS Head office in Solna/Frösundavik) but will require frequent and international travel.

Main tasks:
Lead the development and execution of a comprehensive sales strategy that aligns with the business transformation goals.
Foster a culture of transformation and innovation within the sales team and wider organization, aiding the overall business restructuring process.
Drive preference for SAS by building strong relationships within the travel industry and with our frequent traveller’s community.

Monitor and analyze changes and developments that affect our industry, customers, and competitors to keep up with the latest trends and innovations in your market and translate to strategy.
Use data first approach to design and continuously develop sales value proposition, sales targets, and taking responsibility for the department’s performance against targets.
Secure best possible commercial deals with all major corporate customers, agents and tour operators by implementing optimal commercial frameworks and agreements to enable future profitability.
Lead and drive digital distribution by introducing alternative booking solutions in close cooperation with SAS distribution team.
Optimize SAS charter business share (both serial and ad hoc) of total SAS sales capacity, with main focus on SAS short- and long-term profitability.
Present, promote, and sell SAS brand, products and concepts in external meetings and events
Prepare business cases conduct ongoing qualitive and quantitative assessment of key strategic initiatives and present in SAS Group Management.
Drive operational improvements to further reduce cost, increase customer experience, and improve quality.
Shape the future commercial agenda as part of the Commercial Leadership Team


IDEAL EXPERIENCE
Functional expertise: a complete sales toolbox
Minimum 5 years’ experience in senior commercial leadership roles.

Experience with leading a business transformation
Documented experience from driving cross functional results and development in complex organizations.

Experience in a global, multi-channel organization
Proven ability to drive sales strategies that boost customer acquisition, retention, and brand loyalty.

Proven experience in managing and leveraging strategic partnerships.

Experience from both corporate customers and travel agent negotiations.
Academic degree
Relevant academic degree in the field of Marketing, Business, or similar.
Fluency in English
The ideal candidate will be fluent in English with additional Scandinavian languages being considered a plus
